Gateway Academy Sports Awards.
I was lucky enough to have been asked by Gateway Academy to photograph their yearly event, the Sports Awards. It was such a generous offer and I had a lovely evening capturing the students' special moments with their awards.
Photographing in a hall with low light taught me the valuable lesson of how handy a flash speedlite is. I was unfortunately unable to have one with me at the time, but since have gotten myself a flash for any future opportunities to photograph at such an event. Being surrounded by families and important members of the education system, I quickly picked up how to be as inconspicuous as possible and to work at a fast pace, capturing the students and the teachers throughout the evening. After the event, I was trusted to do the editing and to be able to deliver the photos on a deadline.
It was a very valuable experience and I'm incredibly grateful to Gateway Academy for giving me the opportunity to capture it.
